Family Weddings

Last year seemed to be the year of engagements, so, logically, this year is the year of the weddings. So far we have two down and two to go. Sean Hendrikz (my late brother Bruce's youngest son) and Tam Millard were married on 8 March. Unfortunately I was unable to go to their wedding which was in Fishhoek/ Simonstown. He is the last of the three boys to be married. Well done to Rose and Herbie for the sterling job they have done with the family. Sandy (Herbie's daughter) was one of the engagements last year, and we wait to hear when her wedding will be.

Andrew Fath (my sister's youngest) married Lara Powell on 29 March in Pietermaritzburg.

We were there - a lovely, happy occasion. From the dress it can be seen that Wendy and John have kept up the Scottish part of our heritage - which comes from both sides of their family. I haven't.

When Paul returned from his trip to the UK last year, and was telling us about the Haggis tour of Scotland that he had taken - I broke the news to him that we have Campbell ancestry. His immediate comment was that he was glad he didn't know that before! In spite of the Campbell reputation, I must say that our ancestors were a respectable lot!!! The original John Campbell who came out from Scotland was a Magistrate in the Port Elizabeth district. He was my 5xgreat-grandfather.

Now we await Ian's wedding in May.
